Radley Spring Summer Collection 2008

This season the enchanting serenity of islands around the world has been Radley’s inspiration. The collection is infused with unique handcrafted detailing, nature-inspired stencils, intricate patterns and relaxed, rounded bag shapes. The collection expands this season to include for the first time sunglasses and luxurious scarves; while the luggage collection expands to include an array of new styles and prints.

The colour palette comprises an assortment of spicy colours; ginger, rustic tan, and a rich saffron hued curry are contrasted by tranquil muted shades of mint green, ivory and duck egg blue, creating an overall look of delicate charm with vivid highlights. Multi-coloured polka dots resonate through the collection whether it is on a just visible bag lining, the trim on a selection of the luggage, running along the inside arm of a pair of sunglasses, or the main decorative element of an umbrella, silk scarf, passport holder and luggage tag.

Highlights of the bag collection include Skye a textured, sculpted hobo tote bag with fan shaped pleated leather and a coloured one-stitch detail. Corsica is sophisticated woven leather textured shoulder bag with ring details on the handles. The woven leather is divided on the front of the bag with bigger and smaller textured strips forming diamonds that show particularly in the deep saffron-hued curry colourway. Cuba is another sophisticated style that is made from vintage leather with a large flapover top and long shoulder straps. The front of the bag is decorated with handcrafted details of a leather ring with leather beads hanging from it on leather tassels.

The debut Radley Sunglasses collection has a whimsical feel; Orona is a Jackie O 60’s shaped style that has temple decorative details laser cut on to the outside layer of the arms. Amini has a chic 1970’s feel with oversized tortoiseshell frames and contrast mint-green leather covered arms. Udot a smaller sized style, has a 50’s Audrey Hepburn feel with polka dots decorating the inside of the arms on a hot pink background. This hot pink also forms a trim on the ivory frames.

Scarves come in pure silk or silk mixed with cashmere or linen. Random Spot uses the polka dot print in two different styles, either a printed silk square which is perfect as a headscarf or a wide linen and silk mix woven scarf, ideal for throwing round your shoulders. Both styles are available in pink, ivory or brown with contrasting coloured polka dots giving them a slightly kitsch feel.
